Welcome to Ronda Museum (Ronda Mondragon Palace) Ronda, Spain
Ronda city's museum is located at the Mondragon Palace, known also as Palace of the Marquis of Villasierra. The Museo de Ronda is a magnificient building, probably Ronda's most significant civil building.
Inside the Ronda museum four different areas or zones can be distinguished, according to the aim and function corresponding to each one of the museum's notions:
An Exposition area, an Investigation area, a Storage area & a Services area.
The expositions and exhibitions area in Ronda Museum consists of different galleries forming each one the different museum's sections. The three sections contain the most representative cultural assets of the city and its region. These sections are as follows:
History Section: It shows the richess, variety and historic significate of Andalucia's archaeological and historical patrimony. It is an example of Spain's ancient and modern history, and the Museum take its responsibitlity of knowing, preserving and informing about it very seriously.
This section consists of the following exhibition galleries: the cave world, the megalithic world, monography about Acinipo, the funerary Roman world, Ancient Ronda, the funerary Arab world, the city of Ronda's evolution as a geographical and historical area and Ronda in the 19th century.
Ethnography Section
This section of the Ronda City Museum shows examples of Ronda's most representative ethnographic patrimony, authentic popular creation and sign of Ronda's unique identity. It shows a dynamic and vibrant representation, offering various sensations.
The ethnography section consists of five galleries, being the remarkable world of the corks work, the still, traditional cheese production, the kitchen, as well as a space dedicated to pig's and to saddlery, to different economic aspects concerning the traditional region's production, transformation and consumption.
Environment Section
This section tries to offer visitors an outlook on Ronda's environment and the different aspects it consists of. In this way, the different natural areas and parklands existing in the local Andalucian region (Natural Park of Sierra de las Nieves, Natural Park of Los Alcornocales and Natural Park of Grazalema) are the basical assets of this section.
The rest of the areas are places where technical, investigation, storage and general museum services matters are housed, typically for institution of this kind. Restoration workshops, pedagogical bureau, shops, bar, gardens, experimentation rooms, multiple use room, library, movie room, etc.
